I would like to start working
on the combat resolution algorithm, given units involved in a planned attack.

the goal would be to describe clearly the rules and make a small program just crunching the numbers.

if someone else is interested in that specifically let me know.

Well, you should prepare to modify them quite much, as I suspect we're going to add a whole new set of values for equipment, instead of just using the ones TOAW has.

Now that we're on the topic, I think some sort of 'power check' should be added, so that you can no longer encircle a group of units with headquarters. Or perhaps, if a friendly units(s) are surrounded and the enemy attakcs them, they should make a breakthrough attack?
