ALBANIA 1998 OPERATION "FLASH" -- OPERACIJA "MUNJA" This scenario is based on hypothetical invasion of Albania by Yugoslavia in 1998 from Kosovo. 1. UNIT COLORS olive green -- all VJ forces red-black -- Albanian forces,UQK guerillas light blue -- NATO forces 2. BACKGROUND In march 1998 big number of albanian terrorist cross the border between Kosovo-Albania and enter Kosovo. Their leader was Adem Yashari. This group of terrorist were trained and equiped in Albania. They started with attacks on yugoslav army and serbian police. They called themselves KLA (Kosovo Liberation Army). Yashari's grop was destroyed by serbian troops but KLA didn't stop to exist. Kosovo Albanians started revolution against Serbs, they was supported by Albania and also many volunteers from Albania started to come to Kosovo. War has started. In same time albanian revolution starts in Macedonia and Greece. KLA has big manpower and soldiers were good equiped. Day by day number of serbian soldiers which were killed in battle grew. KLA also started with terrorist attacks against Serbs in big cities of Kosovo like Pristina,Prizren and Pec. USA also secretly supported KLA. But in june Serbian troops started offensive and captured many bases of KLA in Drenica. But KLA couldn't be easily beaten. More and more terrorists came from Albania. Situation for serbian/yugoslav goverment was hopeless. Its looks like they never can completely destroy terorists. Finaly after few more weeks of fighting,regime of Slobodan Milosevic have lost its patience. In 25.7.1998 they gave ultimatum to Albanian goverment to disable terrorists to cross border and come to Kosovo and to stop with terrorists training or VJ will enter Albania and do that. Albania of course rejected serbian demands and said that goverment have nothing with rebells. Milosevic's goverment made a decision: VJ must attack Albania and destroy all terrorists. Milosevic gave to his generals few days to plan attack on Albania.The name of operation was "FLASH",because VJ generals expected to crush all albanian forces including KLA terrorist for few days. VJ tanks and all other eqipment was sent to Kosovo-Albanian border because montenigrin president Milo Djukanovic didn't allow VJ to attack Albania from Montenegro's soil. On other side albanian generals made a plan how to defend country from Serbs. They mobilize reserve structure of army and they suceeded to cooperate with KLA.They sent 80% of albanian army to border at Cafa Prusit point. NATO gave it's full support to albanian goverment and sent message of warning to Milosevic that he must not attack Albania or he will be in war with NATO. But Milosevic was ready for that. He was sure that his ground forces will won the war in few days and that NATO can't do nothing to stop him. He was ready to be bombed by NATO !!! NATO generals started to sent troops to Italy because Greece doesn't want to be a part od defending Albania because of albanian terrorist in Greece. NATO generals decided to sent few US marines divisions to Albania and to give Albania full air support. Also they decided to bomb Yugoslavia if Milosevic attack. Everything was ready for big fireworks in Balkans. Command of attack was given to general Nebojsa Pavkovic, because Milosevic thought that he is right man for that. General Pavkovic decided to start opeartion "FLASH" in early morning of 01.08.1998. 3. SIGNIFICANT EVENTS NATO will enter the war on second day,but there is a possiblilty that congress will demand their withdrawal from Albania about 20 turn. There is big possibility that mujahedeens will come to Albania to help defending country If Shkoder falls there is 50% chance that reserve structure will start with massive desertations.
