Bin Laden returns to Saudi Arabia as a hero. American troops are given 76 hours to leave Saudi soil. Most American equipment is moved over the border to Kuwait, where the Kuwaiti ruling family cautiosly welcomes them. October 2001 - Israel and the Palestinian authority exchange accusations of bad faith after a terrorist chemical attack in downtown Tel-Aviv. Jordan offers to mediate emergency discussions between Israeli and Palestinian authorities. Egyptian newspapers claim the Tel-Aviv chemical attack was staged by the Israeli government and cast Jordan as an Israeli puppet state. The United States suspends shipments of arms to Egypt. November 2001 - Full scale battles sweep much of the West Bank. In parallel with Palestianian Authority, Hamas and Islamic Jihad intensify their activity. With Israeli civilian death toll quickly reaching hundreds, Israelis implement "unilateral separation", seizing key portions of the West Bank back from the Palestinian Authority. West Bank is divided into three parts. Fighting continues unabated throughout the next year. September 2002 - Under pressure from radicalized populace, Egypt announces that it withdraws from the Egypt-Israel peace treaty. Fearing an uprising if stronger steps are not taken, Egyptian goverment ratchets up pressure in public and beings secret discussions with other Arab states. October 2002 - Despite Jordan's refusal to participate, a new pan-Arabic coaltion is put together, headed by Saudi Arabia and Egypt. Syria, Algiers, Sudan and Iraq all promise to contribute troops. November 2002 - The hour is here. International Situation Saudi Arabia - Saudis are placing a lot of faith into their US-trained and equipped army and air force. While unexperienced, they are very well prepared materially and their training is comparatively very good. Libya - Egypt and Libya are not in the best reltations, and despite Libya's willingness to contribute it's forces Egypt is hesitant to allow them passage through it's territory. Iraq - Promised protection from Western air power, Iraq prepares to put some muscle behind it's rhetoric. Two contingency plans are prepared - to strike through the Syrian axis or to go through western Saudi Arabia. Lebanon - In a bid to secure its own southern border, Lebanon agrees to support Syria in any war against Israel. Iran - Iranians are taking a wait and see attitude, bringing some forces closer to the Syrian border but not entering conflict decisively. Egyptian relations with other Arab states are cool, and no other nations participate. SPECIAL EVENTS The scenario takes place in an environment of nuclear terrorism. Anything can happen. Keep an eye on news reports. There is significant unrest in the occupied Gaza strip and West Bank areas. On the morning of the invasion, Palestinian Authority has activated all it's fighting forces. If left unchecked, they are capable of occupying Israeli cities with disasterous consequences. Some other Arab countries may enter the conflict if Israelis make significant headway into Syrian,Lybian and Egyptian/Sinai territory. VICTORY As the Israeli player, your primary goal is the survival of the state of Israel. This will be a defensive war, although you should be able to advance into Syria. You must not allow any Israeli cities to fall into Arab hands. You will have an option to request direct military aid from United States, but it will take at least several days for anything other then token forces to start arriving. Secondly, Israeli independence will be significantly compromised, opening way for increased US interference in it's foreign policy. Therefore, it's better to ask first then wait untill the last minute. As the Arab player, you must reoccupy the Sinai and attempt to keep the Israelis as far as possible from Beirut and Damascus. Push as far into Israeli territory as possible. The advantage to the Arab player lies primarily in the opening days, while the Israelies are still mobilizing.
