MIDDLE EAST 2002 Hypothetical war between the U.S. and allies against Arab nations. Version 2.3 BACKGROUND A rash of homicide/suicide bombings struck Israel in the Spring of 2002. Buses, cafes, and a Passover dinner were included as targets. In response PM Sharon of Israel launched an anti-terrorism operation targeted mostly in the Israeli occupied West Bank.Ensuing deaths of many residents of the Jenin camp and the detention of Arafat in his compound brought U.N. condemnation, as well as the outrage of Europeans and Arabs. Iraq's Saddam Hussein payed the families of bombers $25,000 and Saudi Arabia held telethons to help the Palestinian cause. This is a hypothetical scenario in which the events in the Middle East brought the Arabs together and polarized the West. THE SCENARIO FORCES Allies ARABS Scenario and map design by Chad Claeyssen |
