German-Polish War- 1952-55 Hypothetical What if the German Army was successfull with the assination of Hitler, the Battle of the Bulge was successful to the point that it put a wedge between the British and the Americans politically. This scenario assumes that with Hitler gone, the British and Americans sign a cease-fire. In the west Germany agrees to withdraw from all of Europe still occuppied by her forces. The New German Government arrests all Nazi party members aspecially Himmler and Goring. Some SS divisions swear new alligence to the new Government, SS units which refuses are arrested which causes a mini civil-war until 1946. The background of this sceanrio begins after may 1945. instead of Germany surrendering as in history, the allies sign an armistic with Germany. in this Germany must give poland all of Silesia and part of Germany proper upto the Oder River. and turn over all of East prussia to the Soviet Union. Germany does this but with protests comming from certain segments of the Government. When the Korean war began and relations between America and Russia went south, the United States secretly signed a treaty with Germany to ensure that Germany would not seek territorial concessions from western Europe while America was tied down in Korea. As payment for this America promised economic aid. In the middle-east Germany formed military alliances with the Arab nations in their war against Israel, in the way of military aid. In April of 1952 Berlin sent a delegation to Warsaw to discuss a possible alliance against The Soviets. The Germans promised the Poles that if they returned all land which Germany lost after the war that she would assist Poland in retaking her lost territory from Russia. The Poles refuesed causing the German delegation to storm out of the talks. In leaving it was said that one member of the German delegation threatened the Poles with war if they did not accept these gracious terms. In late April Polish and Soviet intellegence noticed an alarming increase in German military manuvers on the border with Poland, the Poles protested to the United Nations regarding Germany's provacative moves along her border. Berlins response was that this was just manuvers to insure German preparedness. On April 25th Poland issued orders for her armed forces to mobiliz and asked The Soviet union to increase her forces inside Poland. On May 12th 1952 Germany launched a massive offensive against Poland. The United Nations protested but could do little since the war in Korea was going on. Berlin insisted that this was not a war to defeat Poland but only to regain German land which was stolen after the Cease-fire agreement of May 8th 1945. Finland will send a Division to Germany if they see Germany winning. The finns will see this as their way to get revenge on Russia. Israel sent forces to Poland not only to seek revenge for the Shoah, but to show the world that Israel will not abandon Poland as the west has done. |
