Retreat to Chebrovny May 1944 Ukrainian front -GERMAN BRIEFING Attn Kampfgruppe Emil: The Soviet summer offesnive has begun across the line. Enemy activity in your area includes the 1st Stalingrad rifles which you have been enaged with for the past few weeks. However recent intel indicates that fresh offensive forces have arrived in your operations area including the 6th Mukden Guard Motor rifle brigade and the elite 48th Guards heavy tank regiment. You are to defend your current positions as long as possible then fall back to the Zenir river line. The town of Cherbrovny is to be held if possible. Orders have come from OKW high command that you are too maintain the integrity of your force at all costs while performing a fighting retreat. It is possible that you will encounter enemy armor and a company of panzers and pz grenadiers have been provided. These will be sufficient to repel any armor. -SOVIET BRIEFING Attn Comrades of the Mukden Operational Group. You are to drive the german forces from the area of Chebrovny, Breviny, Chirch and Ganet. More important is the destruction of the facist forces in the area. To achieve these aims you have been assigned the 20th Mukden Guards tank brigade and the 6th Mukden Guards Motor Rifle brigade. In addition the 48th Guards Heavy Tank breakthrough regiment has been assign to your sector. This is the opening phase of our offensive and it is critical that this lightly defended sector is dealt with quickly and with minimum casualties. Good luck. |
