It is the only way for the ledavian player to win the game, as England will score an automatic victory on turn 13. 'Historical' Background This scenario is set up in my own alternate history world, where the planet is dominated by Turks and Russians, and Western Europe an underdeveloped backwater area, torn away by religious struggles between the moderate kingdom of Ledav and its integrists neighbours. More details on my site Geocities/Athens/Crete/4060 . 1930 : things are going not so well for Ledav in Britain. Religious conflict in Wales have degenerated into full scale guerrilla warfare, backed by the english state. Tied up by old alliances and fearing that another foreign country joins the integrist coalition, Ledav has been dragged into the conflict, obliged to send supply and 'counselors' to the brittle welsh kingdom. Of course this led to increasing tension with England. In september 1930, the relatively moderate english government is overthrown by a coup. The new government is advocating extensive rearmement and holy war against the 'renegade' countries. Fearing to have to face a major war with both France and a rearmed England, the ledavian government decides to strike first and to engage a full scale invasion of England. The strike has to be very fast so that the english government could be overthrown before France or Russia can react. The English army is small and unprepared, but if it manages to hold out a bit longer than expected, Ledav will be in a very bad situation. Note : The english army is undermanned and unprepared, but but has a very high quality beneficies from an huge amount of replacement (meant to simulate mobilization). If left the time, it will become a very dangerous and resilient foe. The ledavian army is formidable, numerous and highly mobile, but has to act very quickly. Huge amount of territory in south England will usually fall into its hands at the beggining of the game, but to take London is another matter. The welsh army is no more than an appoint force, usefull for diversion or anti-guerrilla operation. This scenario is always a very close affair against the IA, so that against an human opponent, the ledavian player will have to be quite good |
