The boldest of eight different plans for the invasion of Italy concentrated at the seaport of Salerno. This critical part of the campaign and the German stubborn defense set the tone for the next nine months of fighting. The Germans under Kesselring fell back upon one fortified position after another. Names like the Reinhold Line, Volturno-Biferno Line, Gustav Line, Cassino and Anzio would be burned into the souls and minds of Allied troops as they fought over some of the most well defended and mountainous terrain of the war. Scenario design by: John E. Cross & John L. Underwood Jr. Update Comments This scenario is not as updated as I would have preferred. Some of the biggest changes in the program came late in the testing for 1.05. I have updated this scenario with many of the suggestions offered by those that have e-mailed me with ideas and problems. I'm planning on futher updates later. As always, I appreciate ALL comment, pro or con. Please feel free to e-mail me (JCWargamer@aol.com) with any comments. I also wish to thank all of you that took the time and effort to offer suggestions. They are extremely helpful and helped me design better scenarios overall. Trying to update this scenario fully, with the vast number of improvements in 1.05.31 is very difficult. I am working on a new Italy scenario; built from the ground up with all the improvements up to 1.05.31. I want to thank you in advance for your patients. I would be delighted to share what I have to date (on Italy 43-45) to anyone that would offer a critique. Please drop me a line ANY time. |
