The German counter-offensive after collapse of Stalingrad Jaroslaw Flis flis@if.uj.edu.pl Frozen Steppes - scenario No 1 Date: February-March 1943 Location: Ukraine Map Scale: 25km per hex Time Scale: Half week turns Unit Size: Division/Corps/Army Length: 9 Turns UNIT COLORS: AXIS: Grey - Wehrmacht infantry Black on Grey - security units Black on Dk Grey - motor units Black - Waffen-SS Light Blue - Luftwaffe Field Divisions Blue - Luftwaffe Red on Green - Hungarians SOVIET UNION: Red - regular infantry Lt Brown on Red - guards infantry White on Dk Red - regular motor units Yellow on Dk Red - guards motor units Yellow on Lt Brown - guards cavalry Red on Yellow - HQ's Red on White - Air-bases Brown - air units SIGNIFICANT EVENTS: Soviets get 80VP's for capturing Dnipropetrovsk or Zaporizhzha. HOUSE RULES: Air units can be moved to airfield occupied by "Air-Base" unit only. Soviet air units can use air base of their Front only. Soviet "Air-Base" unit can be move forward if after air units moving. *** It's the first test of new board game - "Frozen Steppes", based on winter campaign 1942/43 from Orel to Grozny and from Stalingrad to Dnipro. So, there is lot of simplifications: standarded types of units, OOB without smaller troops, etc. For example - the scenario's 27th Panzer Division it's rest of this unit plus rest of 22nd Panzer Division and 901st Lehr Motor Regiment. If you prefer hundreds of detailed units - this game is simply not for you.
