THREE DAYS OF WARThe Death of a BrigadeThis scenario is to be played by two human players via PBEM in a mirrored set of two games, typically in a tournament 1. Situation Briefing This scenario deals with a hypothetical situation based on possible modern conflicts. Two alliances, Red and Blue, have spent years facing each other across what is known as the "Iron Curtain". While the Blue Alliance is more prosperous and more technologically advanced, the Red Alliance has immense military power and the will to use it. Planners on both sides believe that in any conflict the first three days would be the most important. Blue has a complex plan by which reinforcements can be concentrated quickly at the point of conflict. However, if Red can overwhelm Blue's peacetime defenses within three days, the reinforcements will be unable to turn the tide. Recent political and economic changes have left the Blue Alliance military weakened. The fortified border positions are manned by fewer troops now than at any time in the past. The rulers of the Red Alliance have decided that the time is right to strike down the Blue nations once and for all. As the Red Commander, you are in charge of the main central thrust. At your command is an Army consisting of four divisions. However, the two first echelon divisions will be the main force available to you during the first days of the war. Using these divisions and an air assault brigade, you must overwhelm Blue's defenses and secure a victory within the first three days of the war. Without excellent early progress, Blue's reinforcements are sure to succeed in their counterattack. As the Blue Commander, you are in charge of a long section of border with Red. Caught by surprise, you have only the peacetime forces immediately available. One heavy brigade is stretched thinly across the main avenues of attack, with few available reserves. Reinforcements will arrive once the battle has begun, including a rapid-response airborne brigade. However, the first three days will be a test of your generalship as you will be sorely outnumbered in every area. Do your best to give ground slowly and salvage your brigade. If you manage to slow the Red forces down enough in the first three days, Blue has a good chance to throw Red back across the border. 2. Significant Events
