DEFEND THE HAWK!This scenario is to be played by two human players via PBEM in a mirrored set of two games, typically in a tournament 1. Situation Briefing This scenario deals with a hypothetical situation based on possible modern conflicts. Two nations, Red and Blue, are engaged in a war over a matter of great national importance to both sides. Thus far, Blue (a much more powerful nation than Red, but quite distant) has used only airpower. However, a build up of ground units and attack helicopters has begun in a neighboring nation, Yellow, which is not friendly to Red. Since Blue is part of a multi-nation alliance and its involvement in the war depends on continued political support from other countries, Red decides to use its military to strike a blow to Blue's prestige and will to fight. From its closest province, Red quietly assembles an entire mechanized Corps and launches it across the border. Facing the Red forces are a few scattered border guards which will be quickly overwhelmed. Red's real goal is not only to show that it can occupy one of Blue's allies but also to inflict losses on the battalion to brigade size force that Blue has stationed nearby. At the same time, the Red President has ordered the Corps Commander to keep losses to a minimum. Blue's forces are known to be superior in training and technology, therefore direct combat is only to be allowed if and when the tactical situation greatly favors Red. If Red loses too many forces in this incursion, its own army may be irreparably weakened - which may allow Blue to conduct a successful counter-invasion in the future. Finally, Blue is known to be able to respond very quickly to crisis situations. The Red Corps Commander is given slightly more than a day to pull off a victory for propaganda and public relations. After that, strong Blue reinforcements are sure to arrive, making any further offensive operations impossible. The Blue Commander has orders to avoid conflict, but in the case of a Red invasion his Task Force Hawk is to protect as much allied territory as possible. The most important objective is the protection of Hawk Base, so that reinforcements can arrive as quickly and safely as possible. Blue is severely outnumbered, but in this case technology and training may make up for numbers. 2. Significant Events
