INSIDE THE REICH-AXIS1. Note I took Chris Jone's WAR IN EUROPE 7.0 and created these 2 scenarios from it. I previously created WW2 Europa39-41 as a practice tool, but it is more of an instructional scenario and can be watched like a movie having the AI play itself. I found WAR IN EUROPE 7.0 to be the most playable WW2 Europe grand strategy game for ACOW. Though Patrick Feiret's map was excellent, and Jone's units and deployment were exceptional, the game had many bugs and flaws. I wanted to create a strong AI for both sides and a good 2 player situation. I fixed all bugs in the event engine and added alot of features to make these games not only challenging but historically accurate. There are also additional units for playability. I was greatfull that my predecessors did most of the gruntwork creating map and units. I was happy to fix many aspects of their masterpiece and to share these scenarios with all you wargaming fanatics. I took care of all cheapshot attacks against the AI that players enjoy doing, like paradropping into vacated enemy capitals to cause surrender. Sorry, now you must fight and defeat all enemies. These 2 scenarios will challenge any WWII wargamer. 2. Background September 1, 1939 Hitler has made what he claims to be his final territorial demand, the Polish corridor with the city of Danzig. Poland, its sovereignty guaranteed by France and Britain, promptly refused. The Wehrmacht mobilized for invasion. But first Hitler made a non-agression pact with the Soviet Union which gave Stalin the Baltic States and Eastern Poland. A new form of warfare has been introduced-Blitzkrieg. Will the Allies survive or will fascism triumph over Europe? 3. Objectives Axis: Capture all of the following countries Britain, France, Russia. Allies : The unconditional surrender of Germany and Italy. Take Berlin or Rome and Berlin. 4. NOTES ON INSIDE THE REICH-AXIS Play only as Axis against AI. Axis must capture Poland in 8 turns or less to continue the game. After the fall of Poland until turn 30 there will exist a cease fire simulating the phony war. Axis must conquer France by turn 50. Axis receive 3000 sea transport 2 turns after France falls for 1 turn only in order to attempt Sealion or any other seabourne operations player chooses. This reflects how poorly Axis forces were trained in amphibious operations and Hitlers lack of resolve for a landing in Britain. There is a road from Sicily to Libya, where the majority of Axis sea transport actually took place during the war. If Gibraltar falls, Axis will once again gain 3000 stps, but this time it will be every turn. If UK or USSR fall, Axis stps go up to 20000, but if either nation falls the game is essentially over due to the US making a separate peace or never entering the war. Turkey and Spain activate if USSR falls or if Axis forces capture Port Said or Gibraltar. If Gibraltar falls, Allied supply sources in Egypt vanish. Maltas ceases with the capture of Port Said, Free French quit if Said falls. Morrocco becomes Free French shortly after France falls and this will become the main Allied staging area towards a goal of forcing a Italian surrender. Allies receive STPs on turn 130 and will begin harassing the French Atantic coast any time after that unless UK surrenders before that. Italian units will withdraw on turn 215. If Axis havent won the war by then, this simulates Italian weariness and unreliability towards the end of 1943. Vichy units surrender when Rome falls. Italian ground units as well as Axis partners do not reconstitute. Same goes for French. Free French can reconstitute. Operation Barbarossa commences on turn 95 |
