Toaw AdmiralThis scenario was designed to test the possibilty of aeronaval scenarios in TOAW ACOW. 1. Unit Colors 1.1. Force Red
1.2. Force blue
2. Special aspects Each Capital ship and Carrier is represented as a single unit made of 2-5 ships of the same type. This makes possible to simulate more and less powerful ships and also to simulate Heavy and light aircraft carriers. The Yamato, for instance, is represented by 5 BBīs while the old American BBīs are represented by 3-4 of those ships. This also makes possible to simulate damage and sinking of Capital ships, since a unit may lose part of those ships (damage) or evaporates (sinking). Evaporated naval units do not reconstitute. On the other hand, destroyers units are treated as flotillas. 8 destroyers are really 8 destroyers. Unfortunately, this scenario only works as PBEM game. The PO simply canīt handle amphibious operations, and to make things worse, there is a bug that amkes the PO disembark their land units in high seas, where they arenīt very useful... Only after turn 4, Red forces will have sea transport. This simulates tha fact that the invsion force is usually sent after the main force Unfortunately, this scenario was saved as OPART 300, althought it was not planned for OPART300 3. House rules ships in the retreat hexes canīt be attacked. Both Red and Blue have their own retreat areas. This simulates ships retired from map due to damage or withdrawal orders 4. History This is a fictional scenario. Two nations, Red and blue, compete for influence and power. Blue is much stronger, but Red has managed to build a large Navy and a powerful aeronaval force with skillfull pilots. Red has shortage of natural resouces. Both nations are separated by 3000 miles of water. Between those countries lies the Midway island, which is very rich in mineral resources, mainly oil, iron, copper an thin. The capture of this island, currently in Blueīs hands, would vastly improve Redīs strategic situation. However, the two main population centres in Midway are heavily defended by anti-ship batteries. So Red HQ decides to launch an amphibious attack in the Western side of the Island, which is poorly defended. This would make possible to capture a small airfield in the island and bring and based aircraft to achieve local air superiority. Coupled with Naval superiority, this would cut the Blue supply lines, forcing them to surrender. However, Blue has decrypted the communication codes used by Red and sent its main fleet to counter the invasion Force Midway is also defended by one Marine division and local security forces. This scenario covers the first 15 days of the operation. Red can win by securing a bridgehead and delievering a decisive blow to the enemy navy 5. Theater options Red can use embarked torpedo bombers in recon missions. It will increase theater recom, but decrease the number or planes able to do anti ship attacks |
