During offensives of November 1944, cities of Strasbourg and Mulhouse were liberated by the French-American 6th Army Group. The initial run was halted fast, letting between the 2 cities a big gap under german control: The Colmar pocket
1st January 1945: Under command of Himmler, the Ist and XIXth german armies attack Strasbourg, this is operation "Nordwind".
The necessity to reduce the Colmar pocket rapidly become urgent and the 20th January, the 1st and 2nd french army corps and the 21st american corps attack the pocket.
On 22nd, after 3 weeks of fierce combats and because of the allied offensive, the operation "Nordwind" is stopped. 3 days later, Himmler leave the pocket.
The balance of forces is clearly in favor of Allies. On 2n Febuary, after tough combats in the Alsacian vineyard, the 5th DB of general Vernejoul enters Colmar.
The fall of Colmar is the signal of the evacuation from Alsace for th XIXth army.
Allies try to cut withdrawal lines by running to the bridges of Neuf-Brisach and Chalampe.
The first one is destroyed on 6th febuary, while the 3rd ID approches. On 9th, the bridge of Chalampe is destroyed too, while Frenches approche it.
A big part of the XIXth army escaped. The remained troops in Alsace are rapidly eradicated.
"The pocket of Colmar doesn't exists anymore".
In France, stay in german hands: extrem north of Alsace and Atlantique harbors.
The german OOB during the battle was very confuse, the one of this scenario is directly comming from the imagination of the author. Any corrections are welcome.
The exact composition of 1st French DB and 12nd US DB combat command is as well invented.
I am also missing data for FFI and number of the Tabors which are constituing GTM.
