Six Days of WarThe 1967 Arab-Israeli War1. Forces 1.1. Israel
1.2. ARABS
2. Notes Designed to be played by an IDF Human player against the AI. Playing as the Arab against the AI will produce an a-historical result. Human vs human could be done as long as the Arab player realizes they are ultimately doomed (of course the satisfaction of doing better than the actual Arab formations would be an Arab victory). This scenario was inspired and is somewhat based on the old SPI Sinai game by James F. Dunnigan. Changes have been made to the maps and Order of Battle from that game, based on information which has been published since it's publication. Really I just wanted to do a faster and easier Six Day War scenario than that which came with the game. Like many of you, I have small children and less time for gaming than I used to. This scenario can be played in an evening. Map changes are based on Tactical Pilotage Charts, and road maps of Israel. Escarpments which would play a major part in the fighting have been added. The order of battle has been amended based on Trevor Dupuy's "Elusive Victory"; Zeev Schiff's "A History of the Israeli Army (1870-1974); Chaim Herzog's, "The Arab Israeli Wars"; The Associated Press's, Lightning Out of Israel; A. J. Barker's. "The Arab-Israeli Wars"; Luttwak and Horowitz's, "The Israeli Army", Ulanoff and Eshel's, "The Fighting Israeli Air Force", Osprey's Publishing, "Arab Armies of the Middle East Wars 1948-73", "The Israeli Army in the Middle East Wars, 1948-73", and "Armor of the Middle East Wars, 1948-73"; Eshel's "Chariot's of the Desert". In May of 1967 the Arab world was brought to a fever pitch by speeches of Arab leaders and troop movements. Finally, event's reached a boiling point and Israel felt they must act. Can you repeat Israeli's crushing defeat of the Arab Armies? An IDF Airmobile Battalion is available to the IDF Player. Airmobile operations were conducted in the Golan, so the IDF had the capability. You might use them creatively to destroy the Bridges over the Jordan River, historically the IAF did so, but the game does a poor job of that capability. Speaking of the IAF they do not appear on the first day as they are occupied destroying the Arab Air Forces. I am placing this scenario in the public domain. Any person wishing to modify, adjust, amend or post this scenario to another web site, for the enjoyment of others has my permission to do so. Most of all, have fun. |
