BATTLE OF KHARKOV 1942Version 1.1 1. Forces - 1)The scenario level is regiment for artillery and infantry units, which is adequate for a 5 Km/hex in the Eastern Front, where average sector front per infantry division was 15 Kms for Soviet divisions and 20 Kms for German divisions.
- 2)Armor units are battalion size (Soviet Tank Brigades or Independent Tank Battalions)
- 3)Soviet Rifle Regiments have been merged as to have 2 infantry units per division against 3 German units because they were about 2/3 the size of their German counterparts.
- 4)Engineer capabilities are concentrated at HQ units, no independent engineer units
- 5)All units except HQs and Artillery had recon capabilities, so that they donīt pay a high price to move into enemy territory
- 6)All Soviet units are untried. In fact, 317 Rifle Division was the only soviet unit without previous fighting experience, but the rest of the units comprised a very high number of fresh recruits.
- 7)There are no replacements for this scenario, as the short period covered doesnīt allow for them to actually being assembled and sent to the front.
2. Proficiency - Soviet Units: 50%

- Romanian/Hungarian Units: 40%
3. Events - 1)Soviet side receive 10 permanent VPs if he is able to take Maiaki
- 2)German side has an 80% shock penalty for the rest of the scenario if Kharkov is taken by the Soviet side
- 3)German supply is halved for the rest of the scenario if Krasnograd is taken by the Soviet side.
- 4)Air power has been treated as an event. For the opening 2 turns Soviet forces have some Air units, withdrawn in turn 3, while Axis forces receives Air reinforcements in turns 3-5. This is to simulate the shifting of air power along the scenario, and prevent any gamey play.
