Steaming the Blitz September Campaign 1939 series Version: 2.7 Scenario only for PBEM or two players.could be also played Polish side against computer. SCENARIO IS NOT TO BE PLAYED GERMAN SIDE AGAINST AI. 1. Scenario based mostly on Paper game "Piotrków 1939" edited by Taktyka i Strategia and "Fall Weiss'39" designed by CSTO 2. background At the 1st of September 1939 German 10th Army commanded by gen.Walter von Reichenau was the strongest Tank Army all over the World.More than 1000 tanks grouped at 2 Tanks Divisions and at 3 Light Divisions supported by 300 planes.Reichenau had two posible directions :to the North-East directly to Warsaw or to the East to Deblin and Pulawy,to cross Wisla river and cut Poland in two parts,his left flank was guarded by 8th Army of gen.Blaskowitz.On the second side of front was waiting polish Army " Lódz" commanded by gen.Juliusz Rómmel,that time Rómmel had only three IDs and one CavBde,but 2nd ID and Kresowa CavBde were to be in the line in a short time,next on his left flank was been regrouping reserve army : Army "Prusy".On his right flank was Army "Poznan" ,com.gen.Tadeusz Kutrzeba.A."Lódz " should protect the mobilization of polish forces by delaying advance of 10th Army.The situation of polish troops wasn't so bad ,but Polish Supreme HQ wasn't been able to coordinate the delaying actions of Army " Lódz" with the planned counterstrike of Army "Prusy",at the same time the Chief Commander of Polish Army marshall Rydz-Smigly ordered gen.T.Kutrzeba to withdraw his army deeper into Poland without any actions against german 8th Army,that time gen. Blaskowitz hadn't even realized that on his left flank were waiting, ready to attack, four IDs and two CavBdes!Next problem was the incompetence of commander of Northern Group of Army "Prusy" , gen.Dab-Biernacki, slowed down the march 13th,19th,29th IDs and Wileńska CavBde to the region of Piotrków. The battle's plan for Northern Group of Army "Prusy" was simple: 19th ID should engaged german 1st Panzer Division at the outskirts of Piotrków and then 29th ID supported by Wileńska Cav.Bde would attacked the Germans' left flank at the evening.But after the group had arrived Biernacki cancelled the counterstrike of gen.Dreszer's Operational Group(Wilenska CavBde and 29th ID) ,the group was withdrawn, but for 76th IR was to late.76th IR had already attacked (earlier was planned that the regiment would the spearhead of counterstrike) the flank of germany 1st PzD,and after whole night long battle 76th IR was massacred in the morning.Alone 19th ID,still waiting for the attack of gen.Dreszer's group, had been overrun by 1st and 4th PzD at the outskirts of Piotrków.After Piotrków was lost at the evening of the 5th of September, Army "Lódz" had been bypassed by germany XVI KA,and wasn't been able to delay Germans' advance any longer. Polish head commander marsh.Rydz-Smigly couldn't decided how to use the southern group of Army Prusy commanded by gen.Skwarczyński .There were two posibilities,first to the north to protect Warsaw or the second the south to help Army "Kraków".Ultimately the group was been immobilised by contradictory orders. At that scenario polish player is able to coordinate the actions of armies "Prusy" and "Lódz";25th ID belongs to Army "Poznan";Krakowska CavBde and 7th ID belongs to Army "Kraków". 3. Special notes 1)I gave polish troops heavy ATR,because Bofors ATG 37mm using by Polish Army had much more better armour piercing cappabilities (compare to the 45mm ATG) than germany PAK 35/36.At that time polish ATR UR-1 was one of the best,better were only russian's PTR,but PTR was longer and heavier.Next reason for Heavy ATR,before the war polish guns 75mm were recalibrated and fitted with AT rounds,of course they weren't just like 75mm ATG,but could be used against tanks,and they were,at the battle of Mokra(a small village on the north of Klobuck) 4th PzD lost about 75 tanks ,some of them were shoot down by sixteen 75mm guns of Wolynska Cav.Bde. 2)Lufftwaffe units are not historical.Polish AF units are historical. AA units are not historical. 3)If III Reich player takes the locations : 61,1 Rawa Mazowiecka before 24th turn game will be ended by III Reich Overhelming Victory 4)If III Reich player takes the locations : 94,7 road to Deblin 94,12 road to Pulawy 93,34 Sandomierz before 27th turn he'll win by OV 5)For "german" player the most important is speed,polish reinforcements are coming all the time.You must destroy them one by one,to destroy them all together can be impossible 6)For "polish" player : withdraw slowly,delay germans and wait for reinforcements 7)At 1939 polish armoured cars wz.29 and some of wz.34 were armed in Pateaux 37mm ATG, worse than Bofors 37mm ATG,but enough good for thin armour of german tanks and armoured cars,nearly the same situation at TOAW is with TKS recon tanks.Some of TKS were been armed in 20 mm ATG ,just like PzKpfw II .For that reason there are additional 37mm ATG,25 mm ATG,wheeled and tracked tractors at polish armoured units. 8)There is 85% chance of withdrawn the 25th ID at 13th turn,historically Rydz-Smigly ordered gen.Kutrzeba to withdrawn whole Army "Poznań" without any actions against 8th Army. 4. 2. background
