War and Peace 1805-18151. Notes This scenario is a work in progress. It is based upon Avalon Hill's magnificent board game. I think I've done the map and the units reasonable justice but I'd be delighted if anyone wants to pick up the baton and devlop the game to its full potential. Key issues, problems and comments. - 1. Not sure how to implement the rule that infantry can only move with leaders. Obviously this could be stipulated or ignored altogether. My personal preference is that infantry can only move with leaders.
- 2. Unit structure simple, but quite effective.
a. Loaded leader units with artillery to make them powerful, vulnerable and slow.
b. Proficiency: All leaders and guard units - 100%; British, French, Russians - 75%; All other nations - 50%; Militia, Landwehr, Partisans - 25%
c. Haven't developed naval units or Admiral Nelson. - 3. Not too sure how to deal with the supply situation. Pointless keeping the three hex rule - possibly make supply sources few and far between?
- 4. Don't really know how to operate the OOB very well, thus the fairly random unit formations. This should be tidied up. Preferably:
Player 1: French -
a. Grand Armee (French),
b. French Navy,
c. the various French minor allies - i.e. Bavaria, Switzerland etc.
Player 2: Coalition
a. Austria
b. Russia, and so forth. - 5. Replacements and reinforcements - hadn't a clue. Don't know how to make the various national units reconstitute in their home country, nor how to translate the board game reinforcement into TOAW.
- 6. Events - again, pretty much useless here. I tried dabbling with triggers to create Polish and Dalmatian forces after the occupation of Warsaw and Trieste but failed totally. I feel things like the Napoleon unit being destroyed or Paris being captured can be faithfully rendered.
- 7. Alliance phase - probably can't be done but if anyone knows how to make all of the nations bar France and Britain prone to becoming neutral or even switching sides this would be magnificent.
There's a heck of a lot more but that's all I can think of just now. PLEASE help develop this, I'm desperate to play it online! Scottish Independence Party |
