ISLAND CIVIL WARHypothetical Civil War on a small island between Pro-Government and Rebel forces1. UNIT COLORS 1.1. REBEL FORCES
1.2. PRO-GOVERNMENT FORCES
2. SIGNIFICANT EVENTS
3. SITUATION Due to a recent Civil War on this remote island nation, United Nations peacekeeping forces had been dispatched to help maintain order. During the last several weeks and with the help of the Island Nation's President, the UN Forces have rounded up all heavy military equipment and stored it in the towns across the island while the country recovers and establishes a new administration. Yesterday, the President was assassinated and 2 prominent and former enemy generals have emerged to lead the small nation. Each of these generals has their own agenda and there are fears that Civil War will ignite again within weeks. Most heavy equipment has been seized by the warring parties. All the towns were guarded by UN forces but they withdrew to avoid getting involved in the initial fighting. At some point the UN might intervene it if means protecting the civilian populace. Recent comments made by the Chinese Ambassador at the United Nations have indicated that they may intervene to support the Rebel cause if certain conditions are met. While no one knows for sure what that might be, military success by the Rebels will be the most likely event to trigger that interference. There is a small airfield on the island and if it is captured by the Rebels then they take control of the island's former air assets (x2 Mig-17's, x2 Hind's and an Air Defense Platoon of ZSU-23-4's). 4. NOTE This scenario is based on a Steel Panther?s Main battle Tank multi-player Combat Campaign I conducted. |
