4.1. Conquering China
Selecting this option will cancel the Option for attacking US forces, but US forces will enter later or be given the otion to enter.
There will also be a low chance that USSR will attack Japan. The 'Big 3' decide to finish off Japan quickly. This will cause allied replacement problems for awhile. But if Russia does enter, US and UK will be right behind them.
After the conquest of China proceeds, ChiangKaiShek and MaoTseTung may agree to form as an army and focus on Japan as the primary focus.
After the Theatre option for conquering China occurs, a second Theatre Option(T.O.) will allow Japan to proceed thru Indo-China, Thailand, Burma and possibly India if Japan can attempt it.
This will however force the UK forces to declare war and defend it's territories. US may follow after a short delay.
4.2. Attacking United States of America
This will cancel the Conquer China Option.
A T.O. for Russia to declare war may occur.
Initiates 'Big 3' Conference to support China and it's 'Japan First' Strategy.
There is a 2 turn Cease-fire while China's forces are upgraded.
Allies will experience gradual increases in supply and transport, shocks et al.
Will initiate Japanese supply drop event string to simulate increased IJN movement and activities.
Japan will be forced to attack Indonesia to maintain supply level.
Will start EEV for Ship status. If a CV or BB for the Allies is sunk, points are added to the EEV. If Japanese ships are sunk, points are subtracted from the EEV. At certain levels, if the EEV is triggered, effects and events may take place, or may NOT take place. Such as the creation of the Atomic weapon.
Also, shock levels will be checked after about 6 months of conflict, if the EEV is at a certain level, will determine shock levels for awhile till other events may over-ride levels.
UK forces will join the fight.
4.3. Attacking Russia
Cancels 'DoW against USA' T.O.
USA will enter after a delay.
A mix of Chinese and Russian guerrilla units will be deployed in the region.
Vladivostok will be important for triggering victory conditions in Russian Territory.
Shock values will slowly increase.
Replacement levels will decrease slightly for a short period.
Russia will surrender conditionally and concede territory and supply to the Japanese if strategic points taken.
They will still fight on against Germany of course.
4.4. Declare war on UK/Dutch Forces
US forces will enter, war declared.
Releases all UK forces in theatre.
Once Japan Seizes the major ports and supply points in Indonesia and South East Asia, Japanese Freighters and transports will be released to supply Japan's industry.
Russia will not enter, directly.
4.5. Chinese Forces
China's leaders, Chiang kai Shek of the Kuomintang forces and Mao Tse Tung of the Communist China Party both agreed to focus their strengths at fighting the Japanese rather than amongst themselves.
They Proceeded to adopt a "Japan First" Strategy which together with the allied leaders, they formed a rather fragile army and proceeded to conduct more 'Military' actions rather than sporadic, unorganized assaults.
China and Japan may fight at will. They had been doing so for quite sometime. However, if any major actions are performed in China by the Japanese, the T.O. must be selected. Japan and Allies will be given a chance to get China involved.
The Upgrade will occur rather quickly. A 2 Turn Cease-Fire will be invoked, allowing Chinese forces to take up positions.
The existing Chinese Guerrilla forces will be removed.
If you wish to fight with the guerrilla units rather than upgrade to slightly stronger infantry Corps, it is more than possible and I believe put up a fair fight.
This will be triggered later if Conquer China T.O. is selected or sooner if Allies are attacked.
4.6. Japan's Strategic Bombing/China's Factories
There are four cities in China that will contain 'Factories'.
These factories will produce units to be disbanded.
There are four rounds of factories that will each produce 3 Production units.
These Production units will or may sustain the chinese forces thru to turn 100. Roughly 2 years after the start of the conflict.
- Chungking - 4 Factory rounds x 3 = 12 Production units
- Yinchuan - 4 Factory rounds x 3 = 12 Production units
- Chengchow - 4 Factory rounds x 3 = 12 Production units
- Lanchow - 4 Factory rounds x 3 = 12 Production units
Therefore there are 48 total production units to be disbanded. this will be a fairly large amount of supply and should sustain the Chinese forces even if things get tough...well... depending.
IF, the factories are destroyed, bombarded and taken out of commission, the production units which are the result of the factory cycle are removed with none of their equipment entering the pool.
example:
Chungking Factory 2 arrives on turn 45 after Chungking Factory 1 leaves turn 44.
(expected first production unit of Chungking Factory 2 is 6 turns after factory 2 arrives.)
Japanese recon has spotted factory in Chungking. Japanese player assigns heavy air power to obliterate Factory complexes.
Chinese air power puts up a pathetic fight and the Factory unit is heavily damaged. The next turn it is destroyed.
The factory does not reconstitute. The real effect is the 3 Production units assigned to Chungking factory 2 are lost and so is all equipment.
So if Japan can get close enough to destroy all four Factory units (actually 16, 4 cycles to turn 100) till mid 1943, China should be well starved of equipment and pretty much on it's knees. But, this entails them to divert important air power from the Pacific and Indonesia as well as Indo-China. The Japanese player must choose.
Make sure to ONLY DISBAND THE PRODUCTION UNITS!
Normal cycle:
Chungking factory 1
Chungking prod 1 unit arrives on turn 8.
Allied player disbands production unit.
(does this 3 times)
turn 24, Chungking Factory 1 removed.
turn 25, Chungking Factory 2 placed.
Chungking prod 2 unit arrives on turn 32
.....etc... till turn 98.
4.7. Burma Road
If Japanese forces encroach and gain the Burma road, the Supply point for allied forces in Kunming is removed.
Then, a T.O. for allies to perform air transport across to Kunming will appear. If this option is selected, a supply point will be placed in Kunming and allied air transport will drastically drop, till changed by later events.
4.8. Japanese Sea lane Supply
Once Japan gains the Indonesian Ports and it's oil and supply points, Freighters will appear that will be used to supply Japan.
There are 3 rounds of freighters for 4 major ports, Jakarta, Banjarmasin, Balikpapin and Singapore.
If the first round of a port's freighters are sunk, the supply point at that port will be removed.
A second group of freighters for that port will arrive and the supply point will be replaced.
If the 2nd group is destroyed, a 3rd will arrive with the previous same events taking place.
If all 3 rounds of freighters for a port are destroyed, the supply point is removed for a time then replaced for good but the Japanese Sea transport will drop drastically. This will occur for each port. A total of 4 ports with 3 rounds of ships= 12 Freighter groups. Allied subs and ships will have to decide between defensive actions and offensive actions to impede supply and perform invasions. Japanese forces will have to be used to sustain this route with no interruption.
4.9. Japanese and Allied Airfield Units
These units are fixed and only reconstitute at these locations.
Almost all airfield units can sustain 3 air units. When out of supply, can sustain 1 group of aircraft.
Some airfield units will have accompanying air units. These units will likely arrive a turn later than the Airfields.
They will appear after the hex they are placed in are turned to friendly control on the next turn. As well, they may arrive on a turn event.
Each side has a certain amount of Airfield equipment on hand but the Japanese have less to reflect their supply incapabilities in maintaining their Pacific fronts. If allies focus attacks, they can knock out the Japanese Airfields for good. Islands in the Coral sea are heavily dependant upon Airfield units, for both sides.
Japan is dependant upon a lot of Airfields in Burma, Indo-China and Thailand.
4.10. Imperial Japanese Navy
Each ship is represented as a single unit except for some Destroyer formations and later arriving groups.
Most carriers CV units have a capabilty of having four air units on board.
Most CVL units have the capabilty of 2 on board.
Ships do not reconstitute. (except for subs and some DD units)
When a CV unit or CVL unit is destroyed, a (-)negative value is added to the Event Engine variable level.
4.11. United States Navy
Each ship is represented as a single unit except for some Destroyer formations and later arriving groups.
Most carriers CV units have a capabilty of having four air units on board.
Most CVL units have the capabilty of 2 on board.
Ships do not reconstitute. (except for subs and some DD units)
When a CV unit or early BB units stationed in Pearl Harbour are destroyed, a (+)positive value is added to the Event Engine variable level.
4.12. Envent Engine Variable Level
Allied - Early BBs and CV units destroyed add a positive value to the Engine.
Japan - CV and CVL units destroyed add a negative value to the Engine.
If the Levels reach certain points, Shock levels for both sides will change to reflect conditions in the Naval Aspect of the War.
If there are high positive values, Japan will increase in Shock, supply, etc...
If there are low levels, either allies have sunk some Japanese carriers to their own losses or the allies are holding the Japanese in the Oceans. This will be reflected as not giving bonuses to Japan as well as triggering later checks for Shock and Supplies etc... as well as ATOMIC capability.
Early on there will be an EEV check to see how the Naval battle is going. Similar checks will be made later as well as established events for Variable level rising.
4.13. Supply Points and Major Ports
If Japan captures such, Supply, shock level increases.
As well, Allies able to regain, supply effects reversed and Japan Supply is revoked, somewhat.
As Allies regain and capture ports, the Supply levels will definitely change in Allied favour and Japan will be stretched pretty thin to keep it's forces supplied enough to sustain a war effort.
At some point, Japan will be offered a chance to forego any attempts at landing in North America which will involve a T.O.
Once this is selected, Supply points that may have been used in North America, Hawaii, Panama Canal and Seattle will be removed and placed in the interior of Japan's defensive outer-islands. This should shore up it's own defenses. However, this was relatively the same tactics used historically which the allies found easy to overcome by leap-frogging to their objectives.
Shock levels, supply levels, Air shock, recon and all other global effects will be random and be affected by the events which are played out in the scenario.
Hopefully this will be a finished scenario.
