The Invasion of Tha-deuaVersion v01b Requires Hex Side River Custom Execution File: HSR TOAW-COW v01e.exe (or higher revision) included in the archive 1. Introduction Tha-deua was originally designed as an entrant to the Blitz's 10 turn "short scenario" challenge. It has been revised for hex side rivers (HSR) using a modified execution file (HSR TOAW-COW v01e.exe) and graphics originally developed by Jarek Flis. Kudos to Jarek for his original solution to the hex side river problem. This scenario is designed specifically for solitaire play by an Earthling (Force 2) against the Artificial Opponent with Programmed Intelligence, aka AOwPI. It is, however, also fully functional for PBM matches. The full scenario package includes:

3. Situation War has been brewing between Tha-deua and Muong Bo for the past two years. Unknown to Tha-deua, Muong Bo has deployed a significant force poised to invade. The exact objectives will be revealed to the Muong Bo commander on the eve of the invasion. 4. Significant Events This scenario is designed for an Earthling vs AOwPI. PBM play is also supported. If playing against the AOwPI, the Earthling should select Force 2. The objectives assigned to Muong Bo are given in the form of Theater Options. The TOs have been randomized in order to make each game a different challenge from the preceding game. Selecting the Theater Options, and subsequent capture of the objective, awards Victory Points. Minor Objectives award a small number of VPs and Major Objectives award a higher number of VPs. The TOs for primary and secondary objectives must be activated before by the Moung Bo player before objectives are captured. Once an Objective is captured a truck or supply unit will appear. The Muong Bo player must Disband the unit in order to collect Victory Points. Tha-deua has one VP paying objective and that is to cut Muong Bo communications by destroying the Muong Bo Supply Point. Destruction of the Supply Point virtually assures Tha-deua of victory. Each side is also presented with TOs for the use of Shock, conducting Germ Warfare, support of 5th Columnists (guerrilla warfare) and increase of Theater Recon. Each of these TOs has a 75% chance of appearing. If any of these TOs are selected there is a permanent deduction from available Force Supply. These TOs will not always appear on Turn 1 and may have a delay before activation. Always check for TOs at the start of the first three turns. Deployment of troops is randomized for both sides. Each side will receive four primary formations, which are designed to appear in any of 12 different locations. Along with the randomization of objectives and TOs, this ensures that each game will have a different set of beginning conditions. |
