Afghan-Indopak War 20011. Background This scenario is essentially an expansion of the Indopak War scenario and details "Operation Enduring Freedom" against the Taliban Government in Afghanistan as occurred historically In this alternate history, however, this operation is set against internal Pakistani political dynamics that allow for only limited assistance or neutrality at start on the part of Musharraf, and in fact sets in motion an Islamist putsch within Pakistan and its inevitable involvement in Afghanistan as an enemy of the "NATO Forces". This alternate history scenario also features the added complexity of an imminent war between Pakistan and India due to increasingly audacious Islamist fundamentalist attacks in Indian Kashmir and India itself. When Pakistan decides to aid the Taliban and Pushtun nationalist groups resisting "Operation Enduring Freedom," or when war erupts with India (or both), the conflagration spreads throughout the entire area, drawing China into the fray and posing the real threat that Pakistan and India might be finally tempted to use their nuclear weapons. |
