Stalingrad or Moscow 1942Silvanski mod for TOAW 3.2 of "Operation Blau 1942" by Brian Topp, released with kind permission Axis & Soviet PO 1. Notes For the general details I like to refer to Brians original scenario. The main changes in this mod are: Some geographical adjustments to the map. Unit colors
Force support... My interpretation of a scenario of this scale. Divisions on the Eastern front -especially German- were shifted from one HQ to another on a frequent basis, hence the decision to put all formations on Force Support. Minor adjustments to proficiency and supply values The big change however is to the Axis PO. Brian had set the Axis PO to move on Moscow. My mod models the debate in OKH... the generals favored a renewed offensive on Moscow, but as we all know Hitler got what he wanted... an offensive in the south in order to satisfy his thirst for oil. This of course lead to the disastrous events at Stalingrad. The Axis PO now has a 50/50 choice between two tracks... Changes to the Soviet PO for enhanced defense. Two Soviet reinforcement formations will appear in a different location. All others in the classic Moscow bottleneck. The PO should provide the beginner or intermediate player with a decent challenge, also the scale and long frontline of this scenario will give rise to plenty of operational decisions. Shock levels for Axis offensive and Soviet counteroffensive established. Lower recon level for added fog of war. I also suggest playing this one with "Borders Off" Reconstituted German units appear at several locations. Minor Axis and Finnish units will reconstitute in their home country. Reconstituted Soviet units retain their Moscow 'bottleneck' entry VPs redistributed, added some VP locations. Some important things to remember from the original scenario.
