OPERATION ENCOREAllied limited offensive in North Apennines, ItalyVersion 1.0 Allied PO, German PO and PBEM. 1. Briefing Operation Encore was an allied limited offensive operation designed to better positions for initiating a spring offensive to capture the Po River Valley, in the North Apennines, Italy. The objective for the allies was to seize a series of mountain peaks and ridges as Monte Belvedere, Monte Castelo, Monte Della Torraccia, Castel d'Aiano, Castelnuovo and Montese and opening the Via 64 highway to Bologna. By the allied side, were involved the 10th US Mountain Division (the only specialized unit of this type in the US Army) and the 1st Brazilian Expeditionary Infantry Division (FEB). In the axis side there were the 232nd Grenadier Division, part of the 114th Jger Division and elements of the 29th Panzer Grenadier and others. 2. Unit Colours
