The only thing that now stands between the US and UE invasion force is Keflavik airbase in Iceland. The planes launched from this base can intercept convoys passing through North Atlantic. Now British and Russian troops have to capture this base. They are opposed by Iceland internal security forces, militia and US marines. They have five days to secure Reykjavik or US reinforcements will arrive. SPECIAL RULES SCENARIO BRIEFING EMMERGENCY MESSAGE FROM: UE CENTRAL COMMAND TO: GIUK COMBAT GROUP OPERATION "ICE STORM" SITUATION The preparation for the invasion to continental United States is underway. Securing Iceland and its airfields is essential for our further operations. You will command a battle group with mission to spearhead the invasion. OBJECTIVES 1) Secure the port facilities on the East coast of Iceland. 2) Provide cover for the landing of the first echolon of UE forces. 3) Move west and capture Reykjavik. 4) Wait for the second echolon to arrive. You have five days to meet these objectives. OOBs We already have a number of special teams (SAS and Spetsnaz) along with Force Iceland Shock Troops (Russian VDV, Naval Infantry and British Paras) operational on the East coast. Their objective is to secure port facilities and to assit main force operations. Elements of Royal Marines are ready to conduct the landing operation, as soon as the port facilities are secured. Russian 76th Guards Airborne Division has departed for Iceland by sea and will arrive within next 24 houres. UE Navy and Airforce will provide limited support to ground operations. INTELLIGENCE REPORT Enemy forces consist mainly of local militia and security units. Still, there are some US Marines deployed on the island. There are also reports from Russian SVR that a battalion of US Army rangers has departed from continental US and will land at one of Iceland airfields in a short time. French intelligence have also reported that Canadians are prepairing to reinforce US garrison. The size of Canadian force is unknown. TRANSMISSION TERMINATED EMMERGENCY MESSAGE FROM: US/ICELAND SECURED MAIN COMMAND POST TO: ICELAND DEFENCE CENTRAL COMMAND POST (REYKJAVIK) SITUATION Norway intelligence have reported that a number of unindetified transport ships departed from Baltic Sea towards Iceland. According to data provided by CIA, they can be carrying a Russian Airborne division. Iceland local patrols have also reported some enemy special forces activity on the East coast of Iceland. This data gives us ground to suppose that an amphibious invasion will take place within the next few houres. Iceland has already mobilised its irregular forces and joined civilians into guerilla units. 3-75th battalion of US Army Rangers have departed from continental US and will arrive here shortly. Canada is prepairing to reinforce us by sending an Airborne Regiment to Iceland. OBJECTIVES You are assinged to command the united Iceland/US forces and defend Iceland. Try to stop enemy at the East coast. If not possible - hold Reykjavik as long as you have any means of resistance. ADDITIONAL DATA A number of US submarines is patroling deep water area near Reykjavik. So don't be worried about enemy amphibious landing there. The enemy will have to take the capital moving by land. TRANSMISSION TERMINATED NOTES If you liked this scenario - look out for "America Invaded" and "America Invaded: Japan".
